Places where the foundations get excavated, and where family material you thought was settled turns out not to be.
The bottom of the sky, directly beneath the Midheaven and on the far side of the Earth from it. It is the angle of private ground, and it governs home, family, property, roots, and the part of a life nobody is watching.
An Imum Coeli line is a meridian, and it is the exact opposite meridian to the same planet's Midheaven line: half a world apart, one straight stroke each.
The Imum Coeli is the deepest angle in the chart and Pluto is the planet that digs. Together they produce ground on which inherited patterns, family secrets and the whole question of where a person comes from stop being avoidable. It is heavy and it is slow, and it is where a great deal of real repair happens, which is why the tradition treats it as demanding rather than as unfortunate.

The excavation happens at home. Family secrets surface, inherited patterns become visible in your own behavior, and the private hours fill with material you would rather have left buried. Rest is not what this place is offering.
Domestic life can turn into a contest over power, and losses here reach into property and family ties. Old trauma arrives on its own schedule rather than when you have time set aside for it.
Bring this line a question about family, inheritance, or where you came from. It is one of the few places on the map that takes that question seriously. It is a poor line to consult about ease, and anybody weighing it for a straightforward relocation should know that it tends to turn into a longer piece of work than that.
Choose it when an inherited pattern has to end with you: the deep therapy, the family reckoning, the severing postponed for a generation. It will demand that you go down into what your family avoided and cost you domestic peace while it lasts, and it will free whoever comes after you.
Pluto is one of the five bodies the tradition calls difficult, and all twenty of those entries carry a passage like this one. A demanding line is not a verdict.

The distances are measured. Each is the shortest great-circle distance from a real settlement to the exact curve of the line, computed against a committed public-domain gazetteer by the same engine that measures a paying customer's own.
The interpretation is a different kind of thing and we would rather say so than blur it. It is craft, written by hand in the tradition locational astrologers have refined since the nineteen seventies, and it describes what a place tends to support and to demand. It is not a prediction, and no line on any map decides what happens to a person.
