This page says plainly what we collect, where it lives, and how you can have it deleted. We're a small reading service, not a data company, and we collect only what a reading requires.
What we collect
To generate and deliver a reading, we collect:
- Your birth date, birth time, and birthplace: the raw inputs an astrocartography chart is calculated from.
- Any question or focus you tell us about, if you choose to share one.
- Your email address, so we can deliver your reading and reach you if something goes wrong.
We don't ask for anything beyond this, and we don't collect it from anywhere but your own intake form.
Why we treat these three details carefully
A birth date, an exact birth time and a birthplace are, taken together, close to unique. They are not just personal information; they can identify a specific person. For most readers that is merely worth knowing. For someone who has left an abusive partner, or who has any other reason not to be findable, it matters a great deal.
So: we never sell these details, we never share them for anyone else's purposes, and they never enter our analytics. Our funnel measurement is deliberately built to refuse personal data at the type level, so a birth detail cannot reach it even by mistake. These three are never used to build a profile of you and are never combined with data from anywhere else. That is deliberately a promise about these three details rather than about everything you give us: when you buy, we do send an advertising platform a hashed version of your email, and “Advertising, and what we send advertisers” below sets out exactly what that is and how to opt out. If you would rather we did not hold your birth details at all once your reading has arrived, ask and we will delete them.
The free strongest-line teaser
If you request the free strongest-line teaser, we collect your email, birth date, birth time, birthplace, and the home city you tell us about. We store these so we can generate your teaser once and re-serve the same result, including re-sending the link by email, if you come back or ask us to resend it. We don't generate it twice, and we don't use these details for anything beyond your teaser.
Our email list
When you request the free strongest-line teaser, we may add your email to our audience list, hosted by Resend, so we can occasionally reach readers with updates. A paid reading does not add you to this list; you'll only ever receive delivery and receipt emails for it. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and we honor it immediately: unsubscribing stops future sends without affecting a reading or teaser link already delivered to you.
How payment works
Payment is handled entirely by Stripe. Your card number, expiration, and CVC are typed directly into Stripe's checkout, so they pass through Stripe's servers, never ours. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, not your card details.
Where your data lives
Your intake details and finished reading are processed and stored by a small set of infrastructure providers acting on our behalf, each doing one job:
- A Postgres database (Neon) stores your intake and order record.
- Blob storage (Vercel) stores your generated PDF and audio files.
- Anthropic generates the written reading from your chart.
- ElevenLabs narrates the audio version of your reading.
- Resend sends your delivery and receipt emails.
None of these providers may use your data for anything other than delivering your reading to you.
Rate limiting
To keep the free teaser and our contact form from being abused, we briefly record a one-way cryptographic hash of the IP address a request comes from, so we can cap how many requests one visitor makes per hour. We never store your raw IP address, only the irreversible hash, and it's purged within 24 hours of that hourly limit, on our daily cleanup pass.
How long we keep it
For a paid order, we keep your birth details and the finished reading, PDF, and audio so the link we sent you keeps working, so you can return to it whenever you like.
If you start an intake and never complete payment, that abandoned checkout is automatically purged after 7 days. If a reading fails to generate, you're refunded in full, and that order's birth details are purged after 30 days; there's no reading to keep access to, so we don't hold onto the data.
Your rights
You can ask us, at any time, to delete your data: your intake, your reading, and your record. Email hello@astrocartographers.com and we'll confirm once it's done.
Advertising, and what we send advertisers
We advertise this site. That means telling the platform we advertised on which of its clicks led to a purchase — otherwise we are paying for advertising we cannot measure. When you buy, we may send that platform an identifier it attached to your own click, the amount you paid, and your email address hashed, meaning it leaves here as an irreversible string rather than as your address.
To do that we have to remember which click brought you here for as long as your visit lasts. That identifier is held in your browser's session storage, not in a cookie: it is deleted when you close the tab, it is never attached automatically to any request, and no other website can read it. It is the only thing we store on your device for advertising, and it is not used to recognise you on a later visit.
There is one other thing we keep on your device, and it is not for us. If you begin a reading, your part-finished answers — including your birth details once you have entered them — are saved in your browser's local storage so that closing the tab or losing signal does not cost you the form. If you draw a free map and then choose to continue to a reading, the birth moment you already gave the map is carried across the same way, so you are not asked to type it twice; the free teaser form reads the same saved answers, for the same reason, and tells you on the page when it has. It is written when you click through, not when you draw. It is never used to recognise you, only to refill a form you were already filling in on this device. It stays on your device, it is sent nowhere by being stored, and it is deleted at the moment we hand you to the payment page. Clearing your browser's site data removes it at any time.
Your birth date, your birth time and your birthplace are never part of that. They are not sent to any advertising platform, they do not enter our analytics, and the reason is the one set out further up this page: those three details together can identify a specific person, and for some people being findable is dangerous. Nothing we send an advertiser describes the question you asked, what your chart says, or a word of what we wrote for you.
We do not sell your data in the ordinary meaning of the phrase: we supply nothing to data brokers or list sellers. We say it that way rather than more sweepingly because California law defines “sale” and “share” broadly enough to cover the advertising measurement described above, and we would rather name that than hide behind a narrower reading of it. If you would prefer we did not do this with your data, email hello@astrocartographers.com and we will exclude you and delete whatever has already been sent.
