The Angle

What an Ascendant line is.

The eastern horizon: where this planet was climbing into view at the minute you were born. It is the angle of the self, and it governs the body, the manner, and the way a place meets you before you have said anything to it.

An Ascendant line is a curve, not a stripe. The longitude where a planet rises shifts with latitude, and it shifts hardest near the latitudes where that planet stops rising at all.

Why Jupiter on this angle in particular.

On the Ascendant Jupiter enlarges the first impression. People assume competence, opportunities arrive through being present rather than through being pursued, and the whole scale of what looks possible goes up. All of that is genuinely favourable, and the one thing it does not supply is discrimination: the same expansiveness says yes to the wrong thing as readily as to the right one.

The Interpretation

What this line tends to support.

Our own entry for Jupiter Ascendant, quoted exactly as the readings use it.

You walk in expecting the place to be good to you, and it obliges. Optimism thickens, appetite returns, people are unaccountably welcoming, and the feeling of being at the beginning of something rather than the end of it comes back. Travel and study open easily here.

What to watch for.

Everything is a little too easy to say yes to. The body expands along with the plans, risk stops registering as risk, and confidence can slide into a benevolent arrogance that you will be the last to notice.

Is this the line you are looking for?

Ask this line about a chapter where you need doors to open. It is a good answer when the problem is that nobody is giving you a chance and a risky one when the problem is that you have said yes to too much already. Expansion is what it does. It does not choose between the things it expands.

Computed

Where this line actually runs.

A line meaning is easy to write and hard to check, so here is this one on three real charts. Cast any of them in software you trust and the lines should land where we say they do. The method, and what we do not claim, is here.

Nowhere in the gazetteer sits within 80 km of this line: no city of 100,000 people or more, and no national capital. That is a real answer rather than a missing one. This line spends its length over water, ice or ground nobody has built a city on.

How This Page Was Made

Which parts are measured, and which are craft.

The distances are measured. Each is the shortest great-circle distance from a real settlement to the exact curve of the line, computed against a committed public-domain gazetteer by the same engine that measures a paying customer's own.

The interpretation is a different kind of thing and we would rather say so than blur it. It is craft, written by hand in the tradition locational astrologers have refined since the nineteen seventies, and it describes what a place tends to support and to demand. It is not a prediction, and no line on any map decides what happens to a person.
